13 Dec 2024University of Hertfordshire are offering live subject tasters and masterclasses. These are led by their lecturers and give you the chance to meet academic staff and get a great insight into your study area of interest. You are welcome to try out areas of study that you may not have had the chance to experience at school, allowing you to explore different options as you think about your future career path. They also offer talks from industry experts that can boost your current studies. These talks are amazing opportunities to network with professionals and for you to demonstrate that you're interested in gaining knowledge outside of the classroom. These sessions are often followed by an informal Q&A, giving you the opportunity to meet staff and current students to find out everything you'd like to know about life as an undergraduate student at Herts. Take a look at all of the sessions and sign up for as many as you want! https://shorturl.at/BmdEJRead More »Instagram

10 Dec 2024The 2024 School Essay Competition, organised in partnership with the Financial Times, asked students to answer the following question: "Drawing on information from your daily life, what sustainability action points would you prioritise?" Entrants were asked to include no more than ten key ideas. They had to justify their choices. Accompanying information from the FT and other sources had to be used. Sara Urdaneta was one of 19 students who entered from Marlborough and were encouraged to draw on various insights from right across the geographical, scientific, and political spectrum. Sara capably applied her knowledge from her geography studies with her own academic endeavour to create a highly engaging and well researched essay which was recognised by the Royal Geographical Society and the Financial Times who awarded her with a "Highly Commended", one of only 15 students internationally. A tremendous recognition of her achievement. Mr Dean: It is brilliant to see so many students at Marlborough looking for further opportunities to progress and further their studies in their own time, hopefully next year we can continue to enter more applicants and even look to have students applying for "Young Geographer of the Year" to open the door to the exciting opportunities which geography has to offer. Congratulations to Sara from all at TMSA #endeavourRead More »Instagram
