At school our aim is not only to educate you in your subjects but also to support you in becoming the best version of yourself. That's why our core values of Compassion, Courage, Dignity, Kindness, and Endeavour are at the heart of everything we do. While demonstrating these values within school is important, it's just as vital to carry them with you into the wider community. To encourage this, we invite you to take part in a challenge: complete an act that reflects one of our values outside of school, and let us know what you've done. This can be from September or in the next couple of weeks. Everyone who shares their act will receive a pinkie and an 'above and beyond' postcard as well as being entered into a prize draw. The headteacher will select the most outstanding act, and the winner will receive a special prize. Many of you already do wonderful things every day so why not tell us about them? Your act doesn't have to be big; it could be as simple as helping someone pack their bags at the supermarket or showing courage by trying a new enrichment activity. Calling all tradespeople! Next academic year, we are planning a Careers Day for our Year 9 students focused on trade-based careers, including construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, mechanics, hairdressing, barbering, beauty therapy, painting and decorating, and many more. The aim is to help students explore the wide range of career pathways available to them by hearing directly from industry professionals about the skills, qualifications, and experiences needed to succeed in these vital professions. We are looking for real tradespeople who would be willing to support the event by running practical, hands-on sessions throughout the day (9am–3pm, date TBC). Your involvement could inspire the next generation and help students gain valuable insight into careers they may not otherwise consider. The Little Princess Trust is a charity which makes and supplies wigs to children who have lost their hair through illness, primarily cancer treatment. I have decided to shave my head and donate my hair to this charity for that purpose. However, the charity is in dire need of money to support the making and distribution of wigs, so it made perfect sense to raise money for this at the same time. It costs around £700 to make and supply just ONE wig so I want to make as much as possible for them. The Little Princess Trust also supports research into Paediatric Cancer treatments. Please support me in this important and memorable journey and if you see me round school in September 2026 with a buzz cut, remember to donate. Just £1 from every pupil and teacher would benefit the charity hugely. I plan on continuing to raise money after the event until I go back to school in September and you can see me in all my new-found-baldness glory.
