NEW STAFF
New staff from September 2026
Ciaran Walsh, Cover Supervisor
Hi, I’m Mr Walsh and I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Marlborough Science Academy. I've spent the last 12 years working as a professional tutor in Maths and English, helping students of all ages and abilities to develop both academically and personally. I also coach youth cricket, which has given me lots of experience working with young people in team environments, so please always feel free to stop me for a chat!
In my spare time, I enjoy cricket, musicals, quizzes and travelling. I’m particularly looking forward to getting to know the students and staff, supporting learning across the school and contributing positively to the Marlborough community.
Claire Caiger – Cover Supervisor
Hello Everyone!
My name is Mrs Caiger and I am delighted to start in the role of ‘Cover Supervisor’ in September 2026. My career to date has mostly seen me working as an A&E Nurse, mostly in Major Trauma Centres. I have had the honour to lead multiple teams of highly trained clinicians, as well as mentor new Nursing and Health Care staff joining the team. Furthermore, I have been heavily involved in teaching anatomy and physiology, clinical skills and leading simulation training. I have always been a keen runner and sportswoman throughout my career, and have been involved with coaching others to achieve their running goals which have always been proud moments for me.
More recently, I enjoy partaking in ‘parkruns’ at the weekend, often looking to go to new areas to do their local route as part of ‘parkrun tourism’. Enthusiastic about teaching, I am delighted to switch focus to teaching at Marlborough Science Academy. I have heard really positive things about the school. Most of all, I can’t wait to get involved in school life and meet you all during the cover supervisor lessons.
Fennel Letts – Teacher of Science
Hi, I’m Mrs Letts a science teacher looking forward to getting back in the classroom following maternity leave and sharing my enthusiasm for Physics with students again. Having recently moved to the area, I am pleased to be joining my local school and becoming part of the wider school community. Outside of school I enjoy running and spending time with my family.
Suzanne D’Souza – Head of Teaching and Learning in Science
I’m Suzanne, joining Marlborough in September as Head of Teaching and Learning in Science. I come with a background that’s perhaps a little unconventional — before retraining as a teacher, I spent around 15 years in senior roles across industries including pharmaceuticals, medical research, and consulting. I’m passionate about biology and chemistry, and teaching has been a real privilege. I’m excited to bring that mix of strategic thinking and passion for science education to Marlborough.
Outside school, you’ll likely find me walking my dog, lost in a book, or talking through ideas with anyone who’ll listen. I also have a daughter currently navigating GCSEs, so I come with a genuine appreciation for what students and families experience. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know everyone at Marlborough, understanding the school’s strengths and working together to build on what’s already great.
Emerson Broughton – Teacher of Science
"Hi, I'm Mr Broughton and I am a science teacher. I am excited to be joining Marlborough this year and sharing my passion for science – in particular, Physics.
Outside the classroom, I love all things drama: going to the theatre or doing my own playwriting. I spend a lot of time reading fantasy and sci-fi books; I’m a big fan of Brandon Sanderson, and I am currently reading The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien because I've never seen the films!
I'm looking forward to meeting everybody this September!"
Grace Cain – Teacher of D&T / Engineering
I'm so excited to be starting as an Engineering teacher at Marlborough school, I'm really looking forward to bringing in my industry experience designing and making for brands such as Swarovski and Selfridges into the department and leading really practical based projects with real world applications.
I absolutely love anything crafty or techy, always looking at the latest 3D printers and gadgets. Outside of work I also run social workshops for women, encouraging mental wellbeing and making friends whilst learning new skills.
Fiona Wustrau, Teacher of PSHE
I have over 20 years’ experience working with young people in a variety of settings, including mentoring, coordinating a Peer Mentor Programme, and delivering PSHE-related workshops in schools. Most recently, I delivered workshops and peer learning programmes on discrimination for Anne Frank Trust UK.
In 2021, I became a PSHE teacher at a secondary school and have since completed my teaching apprenticeship, now teaching RE. Throughout my career, my work has focused on the personal development of young people and I am excited to be able to continue this with the students of Marlborough Academy. I am particularly looking forward to becoming part of such a welcoming school community with a clear commitment to student wellbeing.
Outside of work, I enjoy stained glass and hope to soon have a small studio set up at home. I also practise yoga and am trying to improve my strength training. My children and I are interested in the natural world, and I am frequently educated by my son about insects, which are his special passion.
Staff Reflections on first year
Jaden Adams – Teacher of Art
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Marlborough Science Academy, from getting to know the students to finding routines and being able to teach exciting schemes of work in the Art Department.
The staff are lovely and always ensure they say hello, I have been surprised by just how many staff know my name and greet me as I am around the school.
I have spent a lot of time with the Arts and Technology staff and have felt very supported as a new member of the team.
Nicole Demetriou John – Cover Supervisor
My first year at TMSA has been a rewarding experience. It has been great to be part of such a supportive staff team, while also building strong rapport with students and watching their confidence and personalities develop throughout the year.
The school has given me a strong sense of belonging from the very beginning. I’ve especially appreciated the encouragement and care shown in helping me find meaningful ways to use and develop my skillset. I look forward to continuing to grow within the school community.
Caitlin Gardner – Teacher of Business Studies
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far at The Marlborough science academy and have felt very welcomed by both staff and students. The school has a warm and positive atmosphere and it has been easy to settle into the community.
Teaching Business Studies has been especially rewarding, as the students are hardworking, engaged and keen to do well. I have really valued being part of a school community where kindness, compassion and courage are clearly reflected in daily school life.
It has been a fantastic place to work and I look forward to continuing my journey at The Marlborough Science Academy.
Adele Scott – Teacher of Textiles / Child Development
A year ago, I walked into a new school, a new classroom, and an entirely new chapter. Almost a year later, I can say with certainty: it has been one of the busiest, most rewarding, and most creative years of my teaching career.
From the very first term, my focus turned to building a strong Child Development programme. That meant designing new projects, writing original coursework, and getting two full sets of assessed work submitted to the exam board.
One of the highlights was organising nursery visits for my students. Seeing young people step outside the classroom and apply their learning in a real childcare setting is one of those moments that reminds you exactly why you went into teaching. The students rose to the occasion brilliantly, and the visits gave their coursework a depth and authenticity that would have been difficult to achieve any other way.
Alongside Child Development, this year also marked the exciting brand-new GCSE Textiles course. Launching any new qualification has been quite successful and the quality of work the students have produced is inspirational for other year groups who would like to select Textiles. It has been genuinely amazing, and I cannot wait to see where this cohort takes their work in Year 10.
This year also gave me the opportunity to introduce new projects across Key Stage three rotations. More importantly, I committed to genuine reflection after each cycle; what worked, what needed rethinking, and how to better meet students' needs. That process of improvement has made the projects stronger with every term.
Everything here barely scratches the surface of what this year has held. First years are never easy, but they lay the foundations for everything that follows. The groundwork has been laid, the courses are underway, and the students are growing!
Roll on September!
