The Marlborough Science Academy

Sociology

In Sociology we aim to design and implement an engaging and stimulating curriculum that endeavours to create curious and critically thinking young sociologists whilst embedding the school’s values.

The curriculum is designed to enable students to critically evaluate the world around them and to gain an appreciation of society and how it functions whilst, at the same time, being compassionate and kind individuals who are respectful of other people’s beliefs, cultures, and traditions. Students will use a wide range of skills and understanding of sociological perspectives to explore the views of key sociologists both modern and historic, and at the same time develop strong evaluative and analytical skills which will be applicable in all stages of their lives moving forward.

Above all, Sociology intends to create individuals who have a solid understanding of their own place in society and conduct themselves with dignity.
