Once again Marlborough hosted this year's St Albans Schools Book Award #SASBA discussion day on Wednesday. A group of our own year 8 students were joined by readers from seven other local schools to discuss the shortlisted books. Students had produced some lovely creative responses to the books including book reviews, bookmarks, alternative covers and even a review of Birdie on horseback. All students were then given the opportunity to choose a book from a selection as a gift for taking part. After a break for lunch which included a table quiz to see what the students remembered from the books, our guest author Tamsin Winter, a previous winner of SASBA, talked about her career, the writing and editing process and the inspiration behind her books. Tamsin then announced the winner which was Watch Your Back by Sue Wallman before signing books for students. This was a fabulous event in the first month of the National Year of Reading. #SASBAward @beaumont.school.library @stcolumbaslib , @stalbansgirlsschool_stags @stalbansgirlschool @loretocollegesta , @sasherts @marlboroughlrc @tamsinwinterRead More »Instagram

Building positive relationships is at the heart of what we do in the LRC. We are midway through a brilliant series of visits from the STEP organization. Over the past two sessions, it's been great to see students engaging with the volunteers through games and crafts. These clubs are about more than just having fun; they provide a space for students to connect with positive role models and enjoy a relaxed environment. We are looking forward to their third and final visit soon! for more information, please visit @stepschoolswork @marlboroughlrc #LibraryLife #StudentWellbeing #Community #STEP #Mentorship #StudentSupportRead More »Instagram
