Exploring fiction - Respect! by michaela morgan
Respect! by Michaela Morgan
Click here to read the opening chapter of Respect!
Set around World War 1, this book is based on the true story of Walter Tull, a professional footballer and the first Black officer to lead white British soldiers into battle.
Once you have read the chapter you can do the following:
1. Walter’s father was born in Barbados. Can you find out 3 facts about Barbados?
2. How do you think it felt for Walter and Edward to be the only Black children in the home?
3. Life was very different in Victorian London than it is today. Click here to visit the Museum of London website and take a virtual tour of Victorian London and complete the challenges if you can.
4. If you would like to borrow the book from the LRC please let us know.
